Day 1: USA - Lima

  • Our PERUINCADISCOVERY Tour Leader will be at the airport to meet you and escort you to your hotel, located in the heart of the vibrant Miraflores District.
  • Welcome Briefing at the hotel.
  • We leave the hotel for our first Discovery.
  • We have carefully selected one of the best restaurants for lunch.
  • We visit the very important neighborhood in Lima Barranco and admire the Bridge of Sighs.
  • Today dinner is on your own.

Day 2: Lima

  • We will enjoy Lima’s historic city center declared by UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Today we will visit the Larco Museum, Downtown Lima, and The Convent of San Francisco.
  • In the afternoon, we will stop for another Discovery.
  • We have carefully selected the best restaurants for lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Lima - Cusco

  • Today, we are landing in Cusco City, the former capital of the Inca Empire UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • We have carefully selected one of the best restaurants for lunch.
  • We continue our journey through The Sacred Valley of the Incas, until we reach the town of Urubamba where our hotel is located. You will have the rest of the afternoon to relax.
  • Today dinner is on your own.

Day 4: Pumamarka Ollantaytambo

  • Begin the day with a scenic drive to the impressive Inca site of PumaMarka, this is going to be a very lovely half-day of hiking.
  • OLLANTAYTAMBO.
  • This beautiful Inca town is a living legacy, you will see the narrow long Inca streets, the water canals still working perfectly and the Quechuas that live in houses from 11 hundred AD.
  • We will visit the impressive Templo of the Sun consider one of the biggest mysteries left by The Inca architecture.
  • Lunch will be at the unique Wayra restaurant accompanied by Peruvian Paso Fino horse riding demonstrations and Marinera dancers.
  • Dinner is on your own.

Day 5: Maras Moray Salineras

  • Prepare for a full day of immersive cultural Discovery.
  • We will spend a Day in the Life of the colonial village of Maras known for its nearby evaporation salt ponds of Salineras, which have been harvested since Inca times.
  • Lunch will be a feast to celebrate Mother Earth.
  • Today dinner is on your own.

Day 6: Luxury Inca Trail Day 1

  • DESTINATION: LUXURY INCA TRAIL DAY 1
  • DISTANCE COVERED: 7 MILES
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: Km 82 – 2,700 mts/ 8,800 ft.
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: Wayllabamba campsite – 2,900 mts /9,700 ft.
  • MEAL INCLUDED: B/L/TT/D
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: EVERYDAY STAY HYDRATED we will make sure you have enough fresh water.
  • Today we start this unique experience that will take you back to the time of the great Incas civilization, where you will walk through the same original trail and discover mysteries, knowledge, and peace all along the way.

Day 7: Luxury Inca Trail Day 2

  • DESTINATION: LUXURY INCA TRAIL DAY 2
  • DISTANCE COVERED: 5 MILES
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: Wayllabamba 2,900m (9,842 ft)
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: Warmiwanusqua, or Dead Woman’s Pass 4215m (13,828 ft)
  • MEAL INCLUDED: B/L/TT/D
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Today we start hiking on the original cobblestone paved trail left by the Incas all the way to MachuPicchu.
  • After a good night rest, we will get started on what is generally considered the most challenging day of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
  • Today is where the route really starts to gain some height. The gradient increases and the path narrow. This is all about conquering the highest point on the whole of the route: Warmiwanusqua, or Dead Woman’s Pass at (13776ft). We are going to pass through different ecological zones to appreciate the sudden changes in vegetation and geology.

Day 8: Luxury Inca Trail Day 3

  • DESTINATION: LUXURY INCA TRAIL DAY 3
  • DISTANCE COVERED: 6 MILES
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: Chaquicocha 3,535m (11,597.8 ft)
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: Runkurakay Pass 3,955 m (12,975.7 ft)
  • MEAL INCLUDED: B/L/TT/D
  • BREAKFAST: We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for hikers. We always prepare delicious, nutritious, and balanced food.
  • MORNING: We begin our day with a steep hike up to the second pass, the Pass Runkurakay at 3,970m/ 13,022 feet. On the way up, we must stop to visit the archaeological complex with the same name. This site, located at 3,800m/ 12,464 feet, consists of a small half circular structure that is believed to have served the purpose of a checkpoint.
  • Then we keep hiking up to the top of the second pass 3,970m/ 13,022 feet. From there, we start descending steeply towards the beautiful complex of Sayacmarca at 3,624m-11,887 feet.
  • We are going to explore this archaeological site, which is a masterpiece of Inca architecture for 30 minutes. After that, we keep moving on to reach our lunch spot.

Day 9: Luxury Inca Trail Day 4

  • DESTINATION: LUXURY INCA TRAIL DAY 4
  • DISTANCE COVERED: 5 MILES
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: Machu Picchu 2430 m/ 7972.4 ft.
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: Intipunku site 2750 m/9022.3 ft.
  • MEAL INCLUDED: B/L/TT/D
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: Sunrise in Phuyupatamarca is considered one of the many highlights of the trek.
  • BREAKFAST: We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day for hikers. We always prepare delicious, nutritious, and balanced food.
  • Today begins with a steep descent from Phuyupatamarka to MachuPicchu.
  • We will explore Phuyupatamarka and enjoy the spectacular cloud forest, its beauty, and biodiversity. We continue through the cloud forest, and suddenly we will encounter Wiñayhuayna, another marvel of civil engineering, discovered in 1941 in the middle of dense vegetation.

Day 10: Luxury Inca Trail Day 5

  • DESTINATION: MACHUPICCHU CUSCO LUXURY INCA TRAIL DAY 5
  • MEAL INCLUDED: B/L/D
  • BREAKFAST: An irresistible breakfast menu that offers fresh pieces of bread, pastries, and local Peruvian specialties. Charcuterie, fruit, and eggs cooked to order ensure a hearty start to your day, beginning at 6:30 am.
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: If today you want to hike to HuaynaPicchu mountain, the Inca Bridge, or MachuPicchu mountain, please let us know in advance. Availability is limited. If you are planning to do those hikes, it is important to book your trip well in advance. The availability is affected by several factors, including the time of year, the number of people in your group, and the number of spaces regulated by the Peruvian state.
  • MORNING: We will discover the enigmas of MachuPicchu, our highlight of the journey, the Inca Masterpiece. We will have the honor of having the company of our senior lecturer, Marco Aragon.

Day 11: Cusco

  • We are going to visit the temple of the sun, the famous QORICANCHA, one of the most finely worked stone structures. Inca architecture is widely known for its fine masonry, which features precisely cut and shaped stones closely fitted without mortar.
  • After this visit, we are ready to see SACSAYHUAMAN. By driving 20 minutes from Cusco, we approach SACSAYHUAMAN. You will be impressed by the scale of the Inca Site, one of the biggest mysteries of Inca architecture.
  • Lunch is going to be in one of the best restaurants in Cusco, The Inka Grill, considered the pioneer of the culinary revolution in Cusco.
  • Dinner is on your own.

Day 12: Rainbow Mountain

  • DESTINATION: RAINBOW MOUNTAIN
  • ACCOMMODATION: Monasterio hotel by Belmond or a similar hotel.
  • DISTANCE COVERED: 5 MILES
  • MINIMUM ALTITUDE: Cusco 11,000 feet (3,200 meters)
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: Vinicunca 17,060 feet (5,200 meters)
  • MEAL INCLUDED: B/L/D
  • IMPORTANT NOTE: The altitude of the mountain makes it a very challenging hike.
  • MORNING: We will start early and drive 2 hours and 45 minutes to Rainbow Mountain, listed in National Geographic’s “Top 100 Places to Visit Before You Die”. This is a gentle hike; the trail itself is mostly flat until the final ascent. There are also horses available along the trail. They bring you to the end of the flat part of the trail where you’ll have to dismount and climb the final stretch on foot to reach the summit.

Day 12: Lima - USA

  • MORNING: Please meet your PeruIncaDiscovery representative in the lobby ready for your private transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima, where you’ll connect to your flight back to the U.S.
